Job Summary

Serves as the first line of defense to ensure overall effectiveness of risk and compliance management programs and business operations controls. Ensures adherence to governance of the established risk framework and ongoing supervision of business operations control activities in an effort to minimize exposures and strengthen the overall business control environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports business operations in the implementation of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives by providing procedures/ process oversight, record retention guidance, business control self-assessments, procedure governance, business control design and process quality governance.
  • Provides oversight to ensure business operations complies with applicable local, state, federal regulations and internal company policy through communication, change management, process design, and/or project participation.
  • Provides facilitation of business operations engagement with Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit and Risk. Partners and collaborates with various business stakeholders to support programs and controls.
  • Fulfills regulatory and litigation requests. Communicates effectively with process owners to identify business control failures in order to make sound recommendations. Participates in remediation process through business action plan coordination and support.
  • Advises on corrective action measures based on audit and compliance reviews.
  • Routinely monitors business controls and applies knowledge of controls to review and validate them.
  • Leverages business data, and identifies key data-driven insights tied to first line of defense in order to make effective recommendations for improvement. Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical Actions

  • Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
  • Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance.
  • Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects.
  • Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.


Physical Environment

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. CPCU or AINS certification preferred.

Three or more years of related business experience.
