Controller - Commercial Construction | San Jose, CA (Santa Teresa)
San Jose, CA (Santa Teresa area) | Full-Time, On-Site, M-F 6:30am -3:30pm
$140,000-$170,000/year DOE + potential bonus

This is a hands-on role for someone who takes real pride in accuracy - you'll oversee a small accounting team while staying close to the day-to-day details of payroll, AP/AR, financials, and insurance.
What you'll own:
- Payroll - timecards, processing, workers' comp, 401(k), quarterly/year-end reporting, new hire & new-year setup (via Centrally HR/CBIZ)
- Accounts Payable - checks, lien releases, 1099s, vendor setup, credit card management (via GCPay)
- Accounts Receivable - billing, invoice tracking & follow-up, deposits, monthly close, reporting
- Banking & cash flow - reconciliations and cash management
- Financials - year-end close, WIP reporting, job costing, backlog analysis, journal entries, working with our outside CPA firm
- Insurance - renewals, COIs, audits, workers' comp, general liability, and compliance
- Team leadership - overseeing a small, accuracy-focused accounting staff (3 direct reports)
- Systems: Sage 100, GCPay, Centrally HR (CBIZ), Microsoft Office
What you'll need:
- 5+ years of dedicated accounting experience in commercial construction (not residential)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Prior experience leading a team
- Strong grasp of WIP reporting, job costing, and backlog analysis
