OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a results-driven Continuous Improvement Manager to lead operational excellence at our Edmonton manufacturing facility. This leadership role requires a hands-on change agent who can build systems, develop people, and deliver measurable improvements across a complex manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, you will lead our CI strategy to improve production performance, quality, and continuous improvement capability. This is a working manager role that combines strategic leadership, plant-floor engagement, coaching, and direct ownership of high-impact improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESKey responsibilities include:
Continuous Improvement Strategy & Execution- Lead the CI program using Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence tools
- Manage a prioritized pipeline of improvement projects focused on efficiency, quality, and reliability
- Define, track, and report KPIs to support data-driven decision-making
- Build a culture of continuous improvement across the plant
Team Leadership & Operator Development- Deliver CI training for operators and supervisors to strengthen problem-solving capability
- Facilitate kaizen events, workshops, and cross-functional improvement teams
- Promote employee engagement by creating clear pathways for improvement ideas and action
Quality & Root Cause Analysis- Lead root cause analysis for quality and manufacturing issues and ensure effective corrective actions
- Oversee the CAPA program and partner with Quality and Operations to reduce rework, scrap, and poor-quality costs
- Use trend analysis and upstream controls to prevent defects before they occur
Production Performance & Capacity- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve throughput and capacity
- Lead OEE improvement initiatives across manufacturing cells and equipment
- Develop standardized work, visual management tools, and practices that sustain gains
Digital Manufacturing & Process Intelligence- Use data analytics and digital tools to improve plant visibility and decision-making
- Work with IT, Operations, and suppliers to improve shop-floor and enterprise data flow
- Support predictive maintenance through improved process data integration
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting- Report CI progress, project pipeline, and realized savings to the Director of Manufacturing
- Partner with Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Field Operations to align improvements with business priorities
- Represent the CI function in leadership discussions on plant strategy and capital planning
QUALIFICATIONS- Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
- 7 to 12 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 3 years in leadership or program management
- Proven success leading CI programs with measurable results in cost, OEE, or quality improvement
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification, with Black Belt preferred
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and A3 problem solving
- Experience with SPC, analytics, and digital manufacturing tools
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Oilfield, energy, or heavy industrial manufacturing experience is an asset
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility is an asset
