Full Job Description
We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our manufacturing operations team in Dayton, OH. This role is responsible for driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost through Lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methodologies. The ideal candidate will identify inefficiencies, lead improvement initiatives, and partner cross-functionally to enhance process capability, reduce waste, and deliver sustainable operational results. This position plays a key role in developing a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement across the organization.

Location: Union, OH
Target Salary: $80 - $108K DOE Plus 10% Bonus
Excellent Benefits including: 7% 401K match

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or related field)
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive results
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in standard business tools and data analysis
Preferred

  • Experience with metal fabrication, powder coat, and/or assembly processes
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar design tools
  • Familiarity with warehouse and logistics operations
  • Advanced Excel and data reporting skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with SQDC objectives
  • Analyze production data, scrap, yield, and cycle time trends to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Facilitate root cause investigations for internal issues and customer complaints; ensure effective corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain standard work, process documentation, and visual controls
  • Lead or support Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and daily management system (DMS) activities
  • Improve process flow, material handling, and layout to increase efficiency and throughput
  • Support new product introductions and engineering changes by ensuring process readiness
  • Develop dashboards and performance metrics (scrap, yield, OEE, etc.) to monitor operational health
  • Train and coach employees on Lean principles and problem-solving techniques
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with quality and operational standards
  • Drive cost reduction and waste elimination initiatives
