Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position

Serve as the commercial lead in the Demand Management process, ensuring commercial priorities established by OCO Leadership are executed and communicated effectively. Partner with Commercial Finance to align the control forecast with risks and opportunities identified in demand and supply forecasts discussed in S&OP and demand management forums. Support the commercial demand forecasting process and represent the commercial organization throughout all stages of the S&OP process. Provide data and analytical support for planning exercises, including Blackbook and Greenbook.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Management:
  • Ensure customer requirements are met by aligning strategic customer requirements with capacity plans across the COC enterprise.
  • Maintain global and regional decision models with commercial inputs for demand forecast and customer reservations.
  • Develop and present capacity allocation scenarios to OCO, PLM and SC leadership in support of commercial strategy.
  • Execute commercial priorities through order prioritization, management of RFQ/RFQ capacity requests, and internal lead-time communication across OCO.
  • Lead initiatives to improve demand management processes and information flow for internal and external customers.


Commercial Planning Process:
  • Represent OCO in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) collaboration meetings, partnering with PLM to integrate latest commercial information into forecast updates.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Business Operations in the commercial reporting team to support annual budget preparation and data governance initiatives related to customer segmentation.
  • Analyze and report demand forecast accuracy to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Provide regular Demand Management updates to the GCE team to ensure visibility into product lines in demand management and efforts to manage customer expectations.
  • Lead projects to improve effectiveness and efficiency of commercial planning process, while enhancing demand forecast accuracy.


Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years' experience in a Supply Chain or Operations type role
  • Strong analytical skills, utilizing Excel, Power Query and Power BI
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in multi-cultural matrix environment
  • Knowledge of Telecom industry, customers, and competitors
  • Ability to establish credibility to represent commercial with Corporate stakeholders (e.g., COC LT & OCS/OFC/OCO Division GMs and their staffs)


Travel Requirements: 10%

The range for this position is $94,186.00 - $129,507.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
