Pay Range: $83,100.00 - $128,900.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The Clinical Informatics Specialist I under the direction of the Informatics Manager integrates clinical science with multiple information management and analytical sciences to identify, define, manage, and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in clinical practice.

The Clinical Informatics Specialist I supports nurses, consumers, patients, the interprofessional healthcare team, and other stakeholders in the use of technology to support clinical care.

Activities include but are not limited to collaborating with customers and other IT team members to partner to define problems.

Participates in the design, development, implementation, education, and evaluation of technology in clinical areas.

In addition, they are responsible for advocacy, identification of issues, documentation, and escalation of issues.

The Clinical Informatics Specialist will work with individuals of other professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect and shared values.

They will communicate with patients, families, communities, and professionals in health and other fields in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team's approach to the promotion and maintenance of health.

A typical day of an Informatics Specialist 1 looks like:
  • Provides operational support, with oversight, to local/system team and clinical customers support, education, implementing clinical changes, coordinating and collaborating with SMEs to plan, deliver, and evaluate changes related to the use of technology and data. a. Including but not limited to: i. ii. mobile device support, on-site office support, and remote access support. Support of designated applications as directed by leadership
  • Responsible for rigorous documentation, with oversight, of problems including audits, design sessions, planning, collaboration, and implementation activities (including but not limited to rounds and in-services) of their teams.
  • Ensures, with oversight, that all issues/problems/optimizations have discrete metrics to ensure a scientific and rigorous approach to achieving expected outcomes.
  • Maintains a culture within the team and with external collaboration upholding the RWJBH standards of ethics, culturally congruent practice, and communication/ collaboration.
  • Maintains the required professional development, competencies, and continuing education.
  • Collaborates with SMEs in Quality and Regulatory, under leadership guidance, to promote high-quality practice by ensuring users are aware of and competent in clinical information systems needed to meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Obtains and maintains Epic Accreditation/Certification as current in accordance with dept requirements.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or directed by management.

You may be a fit for this role if you have:
  • Basic understanding of computer systems and applications (EHR, reporting tools, Office tools)
  • Basic understanding of data analytics
  • Basic understanding of Information literacy (how to find and evaluate clinical data)
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis and interpretation
  • Use tools like Excel, reporting dashboards, or audit reports
  • Able to prioritize issues and manage multiple tasks
  • Able to quickly learn new systems and workflows

To be considered you must have:

Education Required: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or another clinical licensure program. Certifications: Epic Clinical Informatics Accreditation/Certification, Nursing ANCC, and/or HIMSS certifications preferred. Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Undergraduate Degree in a clinical field preferred. Licensure Required: RN or Clinical Licensure in NJ
