Captive Insurance and Risk Management Consulting focuses on consulting with clients to evaluate and develop unique solutions using captive insurance companies either in conjunction with or distinct from traditional insurance markets. This unit provides a broad range of captive consulting services which include; objective advice to clients interested in the feasibility of using a captive insurance company as part of their risk management program; and also expanding the scope of, or maximizing the utility of, an existing captive.
This position will be virtual in the US but with client responsibilities throughout The Americas.
Your Impact as a Captive Insurance Risk Consultant
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as support to a project leader for engagements including a wide variety of risk consulting solutions for clients.
- Prepare captive studies and/or portions of studies using existing models for a variety of clients in varied industries for multiple lines of business.
- Assist in writing and pricing proposals.
- Consistently create and improve methodology, products, and operational procedures.
- Support Managing Director and Senior Consultants with client work, sales initiatives and other tasks as needed.
- Contribute to the attainment of business unit annual revenue and profitability goals through appropriate client fee negotiations, managing controllable expenses, working efficiently with established processes and procedures, and effectively leveraging resources.
- Seek and actively participate in sales calls and presentations.
- Maintain effective relationships with Aon teams and clients.
- Identify and build relationships with Aon Relationship Managers and prospects, securing strategic proposal opportunities for captive consulting.
- Work with Aon Commercial Risk Solutions and other Aon teams to develop cross-sale opportunities.
- Prepare and present proposals or support presenters in response to RFP's.
- Produce and/or support studies using internally developed models, templates and forms adding insights and ideas tailored for each client.
- Ensure that the Aon work product is of high quality, adheres to all relevant standards of practice, and is provided in a timely manner.
- Develop strategies for developing captive consulting business.
- Create and foster a team culture across all account service and brokerage teams.
Role Requirements
- BS or BA Degree or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Minimum of three years relevant work experience.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple consultants and stakeholders.
- Ability to handle technical detailed work.
- Communicates effectively with senior management at the client level.
- Solid understanding of risk consulting concepts and methodologies.
- Ability to write reports for risk consulting projects that clearly communicates findings and methodologies with oversight.
- Knowledge of captive insurance companies and the captive insurance industry.
- Knowledge of alternative risk financing approaches, insurance coverage options and major program designs.
- Commitment to client service and business ethics.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with the interpretation of financial statements.

Pay Transparency Laws:The salary range for this position intended for U.S. applicants is $74,000 to $96,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
