Business Development Manager - National

Role Overview

The Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving the growth of BOWA Construction by developing, managing, and expanding national client relationships across multiple markets. This role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, leveraging an existing book of business, and executing strategic initiatives that drive sustained revenue growth and support overall business objectives.

The Business Development Manager partners closely with internal teams to shape and deliver tailored, high-quality solutions, ensuring seamless alignment between client expectations and project execution from pursuit through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Market Intelligence & Strategic Growth
  • Conduct national and regional market research to identify emerging trends, key accounts, and high-value business opportunities within the construction industry
  • Analyze market conditions, competitor activity, and client portfolios to inform strategic pursuit decisions and maintain a competitive advantage
  • Translate market insights into actionable business development strategies across multiple regions

National Client Relationship Management
  • Develop, manage, and grow relationships with national and multi-market clients, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives
  • Serve as a key point of contact for strategic accounts, engaging stakeholders through meetings, presentations, and industry events
  • Maintain consistent client engagement to strengthen partnerships, drive satisfaction, and identify expansion opportunities

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including operations, preconstruction, and project management, to ensure solutions are competitive, accurate, and aligned with client expectations

  • Continuously refine and optimize sales strategies to enhance win rates, strengthen deal quality, and expand market penetration.


Project Alignment & Delivery Support
  • Support early-stage project initiation and planning for national accounts, ensuring alignment between client requirements and BOWA capabilities
  • Partner with project management teams to ensure smooth transition from preconstruction through execution
  • Monitor project progress at a high level to ensure delivery standards, timelines, and budgets align with client expectations and contractual commitments

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field. A master's degree is preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the construction industry
  • Proven track record of securing new business and achieving sales targets
  • Strong network of industry relationships and a proven ability to develop and expand a book of business
  • Experience navigating complex, long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder deals
  • Strong understanding of construction industry trends, delivery methods, and competitive landscape
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) are preferred.
