SQL Server & .NET Software Engineer
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server programming and strong hands-on experience in .NET (4.x and above) development to support and enhance grant management platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable, data-intensive applications in a product development environment, preferably within public sector, higher education, or nonprofit grant management ecosystems. This role requires strong backend data processing capabilities along with the ability to deliver intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for complex workflows.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL Server stored procedures, functions, and queries to support grant lifecycle processes, including application intake, review, award, compliance, and reporting.
• Build and maintain backend services using .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET, and Web APIs, for grant management systems.
• Develop responsive UI components using Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support end-user workflows such as application submission, review dashboards, and reporting.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate grant program requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Implement and enhance reporting capabilities for compliance, audit, and funding analysis.
• Improve database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, and efficient data modeling.
• Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.
Required Qualifications
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced stored procedures, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Solid hands-on experience with .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET MVC/Core, and Web APIs.
• Experience with front-end development using Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience working with complex, data-driven applications.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working on grant management systems or similar domains, including public sector, higher education, or nonprofit funding platforms.
• Familiarity with grant lifecycle processes, compliance requirements, and reporting needs.
• Experience in product-based development environments.
• Exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
