As an automation specialist (IN CANADA) , the incumbent in this position designs, programs, tests and commissions automated equipment. Specialties include programmable logic controllers and industrial computing.

  • Participate in the design of automated systems based on application specifications and write functional analyses.
  • Develop PLC, HMI and SCADA programs;
  • Conduct performance tests with 3D emulation tools and ensure compliance;
  • Program PLCs, HMI, SCADA, cameras, and other automated equipment;
  • See to the start-up and commissioning of automated equipment on site and provide the necessary training to operators;
  • Act as a technical resource during the warranty phase of each project;
  • Analyze the causes of equipment malfunctions and determine the actions to be taken to restore them as soon as possible;
  • Ensure that the automated systems sold are operational and that they meet the customers' expectations;
  • Participate in the service offering process for his sector of activity;
  • May be called upon to provide coaching and support to other automation specialists, depending on the progress of projects;
  • Perform any other task that may be requested by his immediate supervisor.


Profile required

  • Technical skills required:
    • Profibus and Profinet / Ethernet;
    • PLC modules;
    • Good knowledge of Siemens products (Simatic manager / S7 300 and TIA Portal / S7-1500);
    • SCADA (WinCC, inTouch);
    • Allen-Bradley products.
