Full Job Description
This contractor position is part of Alkami's AI & Technology Operations organization and supports the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of automation and integration solutions across Alkami's operational technology ecosystem. The role works across Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Glean, Google Workspace, and Workato to connect systems, streamline processes, and make operational data more accessible and actionable.

The Automation Engineer II manages API-driven integrations and workflow automations through the full delivery lifecycle. This includes partnering with business stakeholders to understand requirements, defining an appropriate technical approach, building and testing the solution, deploying it safely, and monitoring and maintaining it in production.

A key focus of the role is extending Alkami's AI agent capabilities. The engineer will connect agents to live business data, define the triggers and tools that enable agents to take action, and build workflows that deliver the right information to the right people at the right time. The ideal candidate is proficient with REST APIs, comfortable developing with Google Apps Script and iPaaS platforms such as Workato, and curious about applying AI agents to improve the productivity of Operations and Customer Success teams.
  • Build, configure, and maintain API-driven integrations across Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Glean, Google Workspace, Workato, and related operational platforms. Implement event triggers, data synchronization, webhook handlers, scheduled jobs, and appropriate error-handling routines.
  • Design and implement Workato recipes and workflows that automate multi-step business processes, including case routing, contact enrichment, alert distribution, and cross-system data reconciliation.
  • Develop Google Apps Script automations that extend Google Sheets, Docs, and Drive. Create custom triggers, sidebar tools, scheduled processes, and integrations that read and write data in Salesforce and ServiceNow.
  • Develop and extend AI agent capabilities by defining tool schemas, connecting agents to live APIs and approved knowledge sources, authoring system instructions, and creating workflows that enable agents to retrieve information and take approved actions.
  • Build Slack-based operational experiences, including bots, slash commands, workflow automations, and notification systems that deliver timely, actionable information from Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Glean.
  • Integrate Glean into operational workflows by configuring relevant data access patterns, building query-driven automations, and routing knowledge to agents, Slack channels, and downstream systems.
  • Partner with Customer Experience, Support, Operations, and other business teams to identify manual, repetitive, and error-prone processes. Design durable automations, document the current and future state, and track outcomes such as time saved, data quality, and response speed.
  • Monitor production automations and integrations through logging, alerting, failure handling, access controls, and routine maintenance. Investigate incidents and coordinate timely resolution when workflows do not perform as expected.
  • Maintain and improve automation systems as APIs, schemas, platform capabilities, security requirements, and business processes evolve.
  • Create clear, accessible documentation for technical and nontechnical audiences, including API contracts, workflow logic, Apps Script components, agent tool definitions, configuration references, and operational runbooks.
  • Partner with the Director of AI & Technology Operations to scope automation initiatives, translate business needs into technical requirements, evaluate solution options, estimate effort, and deliver iteratively against a prioritized backlog.
  • Participate in solution testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, change management, and post-release validation for automations and integrations.
