Full Job Description
The Valuation and Analytics Advisory team provides valuation and analytical services related to financial instruments for Deloitte's clients in North America and worldwide. An assistant on this team may work on the valuation of financial instruments (such as fixed income, equity and credit derivatives, structured products, and other financial instruments) for both internal and external clients and may also be involved in consulting services related to quantitative analytics.

Work You'll Do

The Valuation and Analytics Advisory service area is comprised of practitioners with skills related to the understanding and application of technical accounting standards, financial reporting, valuation techniques and methodologies for derivatives, financial instruments, and other investment products, forward price curve development methodologies, quantitative risk assessment and forecasting models, structured finance transactions, cash flow modeling, data integrity, data modeling, statistical sampling, capital markets transaction support and due diligence. In addition, with experience and training in the audit approach and testing procedures, many Valuation and Analytics Advisory professionals provide subject matter assistance to audit engagement teams.

You'll have the opportunity to work across our Audit and Assurance offerings -- including Audit, Specialized Assurance, Accounting & Reporting, Controls, and Internal Audit - bringing together diverse skills, leading-edge technology, and a global network to deliver high-quality audits, assurance reports, and insights that shape how organizations report and operate. You will build adaptable, transferable skillsets that are critical for future leaders as the profession evolves.

Sample responsibilities may include:
  • Performing independent pricing of financial instruments
  • Building and executing data analytics to support audit objectives, using tools such as SAS, R, SQL, ACL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, Visual Basic and others
  • Evaluating whether a client's Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) methodology is reasonable and consistent with GAAP accounting
  • Preparing audit documentation of valuations
  • Collaborating with audit teams across companies of all sizes and across multiple industries
  • Building and managing relationships and communications with audit team members
  • Presenting complex information in an understandable manner

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degrees in the following majors will be considered:
    • Information systems, statistics, business analytics, math, economics, industrial & operations engineering, computer engineering, decision sciences or data sciences or related field with relevant coursework
  • Candidate needs to be comfortable providing technical assistance and financial modeling expertise to non-technical clients and internal teams
  • Strong academic record, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required
  • You should expect to co-locate with team members or other colleagues in a Deloitte office, at a client site and/or virtually, based on specific team and business expectations
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in information systems, statistics, business analytics, math, economics, industrial & operations engineering, computer engineering, decision sciences or data sciences or related field with relevant coursework
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above
  • Relevant work experience or work experience in a professional environment (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
  • Demonstrated recent leadership roles, such as on a campus club, society, sports teams or other activity
  • Strong analytical and computer skills including experience with quantitative analysis technical tools such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv-Eikon, Crystal Ball, or SuperDerivatives are a plus
  • Familiarity with financial markets, financial instrument valuation (including derivatives and structured products), trading, deal structuring or risk management
  • Background in derivatives finance, including detailed knowledge of derivatives theory and securities pricing and financial instrument types and structures is a plus
  • Experience with Asset Liability Management (ALM) or Counterparty Valuation Adjustment (CVA) is a plus
  • Experience with wholesale/retail credit models (i.e. PD/LGD/ALLL), interest rate risk, counterparty credit risk, and/or operational risk models is a plus
  • Experience with SPAN/clearing/margin models is a plus
  • Experience with economic capital models is a plus
  • Experience with insurance/actuarial models is a plus
  • Understanding of financial instrument valuation concepts is desired and experience with derivatives and complex financial instruments valuation is a plus
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $61,650 to $123,750.
