Job Title: Associate Scientist
About the Job:The incumbent will provide support to the Drug Product Platform and Early Clinical Development Team in Waltham, MA, reporting to the DP Group Lead. This role is suited for an individual building foundational expertise in formulation and/or process development, with developing laboratory skills and a growing scientific understanding of LNP formulation development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the team, learning from experienced scientists while contributing meaningfully to ongoing projects.
Main Responsibilities:- Support the formulation optimization and/or process understanding of mRNA-containing lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation and production processes under guidance from senior scientists
- Assist the Research team in transferring and accelerating new LNP composition formulations into CMC development
- Conduct small-scale multi-component LNP formulating experiments to support the developability assessment of new LNP formulations
- Contribute to the compilation of Developability packages for new LNP formulations
- Assist in developing initial formulation processes for new LNP formulations.
- Perform in-process drug product characterization under supervision.
- Perform routine and some complex analytical methods to characterize new formulations and support troubleshooting as needed.
- Support coordination with the Analytical Sciences department on LNP characterization analysis.
- Assist the Drug Product team in troubleshooting technical, formulation, and processing issues.
- Document development study set-up, results, and conclusions within an electronic lab notebook.
- Tabulate and assist in analyzing in-process and post-process characterization data.
- Contribute to the summary and presentation of study progress and generated data in team meetings.
- Assist in setting up and installing new characterization and process equipment in new laboratories.
About you:Basic Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in formulation, process development, or laboratory research (internship or academic laboratory experience will be considered).
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Prior professional experience in formulation and/or process development in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
- Familiarity with LNP production processes or analytical characterization techniques.
- Experience with electronic lab notebook systems.

The salary range for this position is:
$75.000,00 - $108.333,33
