The Financial Sponsors group develops and maintains a broad network of relationships with leading private equity firms, family offices, and other private capital providers around the world. Large or small, global or regional, we meet our financial sponsor clients wherever they are, providing world-class investment banking services in any situation.

As part of the Financial Sponsors team, Associates will work with Lazard bankers in every industry and product group to deliver the entire firm on behalf of our financial sponsor clients. Candidates will facilitate the cultivation of relationships both internally and externally, with the aim of originating both M&A opportunities, as well as product solutions that include private capital, secondaries and restructuring/liability management. The Financial Sponsors team is small and nimble and is looking for a highly motivated self-starting individual to assist in our growth. This role is flexible to be based in New York or San Francisco.

We'll trust you to:
  • Maintain an extensive system of record that tracks all priority Sponsor-backed assets for each industry banker across the Firm, as well as a detailed "engagement scorecard" for each high-priority Sponsor client
  • Liaise with deal teams across all industry and product groups where there is an opportunity for sponsor investment / acquisition, acting as the fulcrum between FSG and the rest of the Firm to ensure consistency of information around all Sponsor-related topics
  • Partner with each industry banker to curate a detailed, forward-looking M&A pipeline
  • Prepare materials to help senior FSG bankers and other senior Lazard professionals meet with and nurture the senior-most relationships at our priority Sponsor clients
  • Organize and execute on recurring client networking and marketing events
  • Support industry and product groups with bespoke data and analytics around the alternative asset management market, as well as help keep FSG bankers in the flow of key market trends and news, with a focus on our highest priority Sponsor clients
  • Establish your own relationships with the financial sponsor community

You'll need to have:
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably coming from either an M&A / coverage group or leveraged finance desk at a bulge bracket or independent bank
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, the alternative asset management space, including key investors, market structure, emerging products & solutions, and the trends in the market
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a foundational understanding of corporate finance
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, PitchBook, Preqin, Bloomberg, and other financial tools required

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $185,000 - $250,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant's years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. Base salary is one component of Lazard Financial Advisory's compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
