Global Banking and Markets

Global Banking and Markets (GBM) conducts the Bank's wholesale banking and capital markets business with corporate, government and institutional investor clients. GBM is a full-service wholesale bank and investment dealer in Canada and Mexico and offers a range of products and services in the U.S., Latin America and in select markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

More specifically, GBM provides clients with: corporate lending; transaction banking (including payments, trade finance and cash management); investment banking (including corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions); fixed income and equity underwriting, sales, trading and research; prime services (prime brokerage and stock lending); foreign exchange sales and trading; commodity derivatives; and collateral management.

Overview

Electronic Execution Services (EES), a core business within Global Equities, delivers Scotiabank's electronic trading offering to institutional clients across Canada, the United States, and international markets. EES combines advanced trading technology, quantitative analytics, market structure expertise, and high-touch client service to provide innovative execution solutions across a broad range of equity trading workflows.

As electronic trading continues to transform capital markets, EES is at the forefront of developing and operating sophisticated execution technologies, including algorithmic trading strategies, smart order routing, direct market access (DMA), FIX connectivity, trading analytics, and client-facing execution services. The team works closely with institutional clients, sales, trading, technology, compliance, operations, and external market participants to deliver best-in-class electronic trading capabilities.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of trading, technology, market structure, and client engagement. Successful candidates will play a key role in supporting and enhancing Scotiabank's electronic trading platform while contributing to strategic initiatives that directly influence client growth, trading performance, and business expansion.

Client Coverage & Electronic Trading Support

Provide exceptional service and support to institutional clients utilizing Scotiabank's electronic trading platform.
Partner with Sales Trading, Cash Trading, Prime Services, and Client Coverage teams to deliver seamless electronic trading solutions.
Monitor client trading activity and proactively identify opportunities to improve execution outcomes and client experience.
Develop a strong understanding of client workflows and collaborate with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions.

Product Development & Business Strategy

Contribute to the design, enhancement, and rollout of electronic trading products, algorithms, routing strategies, and client-facing technology solutions.
Assist in evaluating new business opportunities, market initiatives, exchange offerings, and execution services to drive business growth.

Trading Technology & Automation

Leverage programming, data analytics, and automation skills to improve operational efficiency, monitoring, reporting, and client service workflows.
Develop tools, dashboards, and analytic solutions that support trading operations, client coverage, and business decision-making.
Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues across FIX connectivity, order routing, execution platforms, and related trading infrastructure.
Support ongoing enhancements to the firm's electronic trading ecosystem, including algorithmic trading and smart order routing technologies.

Market Structure & Regulatory Expertise

Maintain current knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and global equity market structure developments, trading regulations, and industry trends.
Analyze the impact of regulatory and industry changes on electronic trading products, client workflows, and business strategy.
Support internal and external discussions relating to market structure initiatives, venue changes, and evolving execution practices.

Operational Risk & Platform Oversight

Support the daily operation and oversight of electronic trading systems and client connectivity infrastructure.
Monitor electronic trading workflows and assist in maintaining a controlled, scalable, and resilient trading environment.
Partner with Compliance, Risk Management, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
Contribute to business continuity, operational resilience, and risk management initiatives across the EES platform.

Preferred Experience
• Experience in institutional equities, electronic trading, market structure, capital markets, or a related field.
• Knowledge of electronic trading systems, FIX connectivity, algorithmic trading, direct market access (DMA), OMS and EMS platforms.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Java, Mongo query language, data analytics, automation tools, or other programming languages.
• Understanding of Canadian and U.S. equity markets and institutional trading workflows.
• Experience with electronic futures and options trading in US and CA markets.
• Familiarity with transaction cost analysis (TCA), trading analytics, and electronic execution performance measurement.
• Industry licensing or registration (CSC, CPH, Series 7, Series 57 or equivalent) is an asset.
• Fluency in French or Spanish is considered an asset.

Work Arrangement:
This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
