Full Job Description
The Assistant Director of Sales & Events plays an important leadership role in bringing that belief to life by supporting the Director of Sales, Marketing & Events, developing talented colleagues, generating new business, and driving exceptional results.

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, Marketing & Events (DOSME), the Assistant Director of Sales & Events is a senior-level hospitality sales leader who serves as a key partner and second-in-command within the Sales & Events department. This role supports the DOSME in executing the hotel's sales and marketing strategy, leading and developing colleagues, managing select key accounts, generating new business, and increasing revenue across rooms, group, catering, and event segments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who is ready to broaden their leadership capabilities and prepare for future advancement into a director-level role. The Assistant Director of Sales & Events may serve as the department leader in the absence of the DOSME.

The Assistant Director of Sales & Events is eligible to participate in the hotel's Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Commercial Strategy
  • Partner with and support the DOSME in developing and executing the annual sales and marketing plan.
  • Establish and track team sales goals, quotas, revenue targets, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase hotel occupancy, room revenue, group bookings, catering, event revenue, and overall market share.
  • Manage select key accounts and cultivate long-term relationships with corporate, group, social, catering, and community partners.
  • Manage the sales pipeline from prospecting and lead follow-up through conversion, account retention, and repeat business.
  • Monitor booking pace, conversion ratios, market penetration, competitor activity, customer feedback, and market trends to identify opportunities and inform decision-making.
  • Identify and pursue new business through sales calls, networking, customer entertainment, community involvement, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Represent the hotel and Hyatt brand with professionalism, warmth, and integrity.

Client Engagement and Sales Execution
  • Conduct site tours, client meetings, presentations, contract discussions, and event planning consultations.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, room blocks, concessions, and event packages within approved guidelines.
  • Respond to group, catering, and event opportunities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of leads, accounts, activities, contracts, and client information in the CRM and sales systems.
  • Resolve client concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring a high level of guest and customer satisfaction.
  • Support post-event follow-up, client feedback, relationship development, and repeat-business opportunities.

Event Coordination and Operational Partnership
  • Coordinate the transition of confirmed business from Sales to Event Operations.
  • Review event details, guarantees, timelines, contracts, group resumes, banquet event orders, and service expectations with internal departments.
  • Lead or participate in internal event, BEO, and operational meetings as appropriate.
  • Partner closely with Event Services, Culinary, Banquets, Audio Visual, Revenue Management, Front Office, and other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Maintain clear communication between Sales, Events, and Operations from contract signing through event completion.
  • Ensure client commitments are delivered in accordance with Hyatt brand standards, hotel policies, and service expectations.

Financial and Business Management
  • Partner with the DOSME on the annual business plan, sales and marketing plan, and departmental budget processes.
  • Support forecasting, revenue projections, P&L management, and financial reporting.
  • Analyze sales and events reports to evaluate performance, identify trends, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the DOSME in owner meetings, business reviews, and discussions regarding market conditions, performance, and revenue opportunities.
  • Help drive profitability through effective account management, strategic pricing, space utilization, upselling, and cost awareness.

Team Leadership and Talent Development
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Sales & Events colleagues to achieve individual and departmental goals.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring decisions, onboarding, performance evaluations, disciplinary processes, and succession planning.
  • Lead regular Sales & Events meetings in partnership with the DOSME.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement across the department.
  • Provide training on sales practices, event processes, Hyatt standards, CRM platforms, and other hotel systems.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven environment aligned with Hyatt's values and culture.
  • Serve as a visible role model for exceptional service, teamwork, professionalism, and colleague engagement.

Compliance and Professional Standards
  • Ensure compliance with Hyatt brand standards, hotel policies, applicable laws, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, hotel, financial, and colleague information.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in all business decisions and interactions.
  • Travel locally or regionally as needed for sales calls, networking, trade shows, customer entertainment, and business development.
