What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director will be responsible for supporting actuarial and risk management functions for Individual Life non-participating products (Term, Perm, Universal Life). The role leads the IFRS17 month-end valuation, earnings and experience analysis, valuation process enhancements regarding these portfolios and supports risk oversight. Periodic support might be expected for financial reporting and the creation of the annual Appointed Actuary Report (AAR). The role offers high visibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership to shape future direction and priorities.

What will you do?
  • Supporting and enhancing the actuarial and risk management functions for individual life non-participating products. This includes support for month-end valuation and reporting, valuation methodology and process enhancements, as well as collaborate with other business partners in formulating strategies driven by the results.
  • Working with the business and other functional partners on strategic projects and tactical actions, and assist these areas in achieving their goals.
  • Support regulatory changes, for example, IFRS 17 enhancements. Provide support as needed to other teams involved in the production of financial results during month-end close period.
  • Preparing, distributing and helping interpret actuarial or financial reports for internal and external use.
  • Participating in projects involving product development, pricing, reserving and reinsurance issues.
  • Gathering and analyzing relevant data from a variety of sources using multiple actuarial tools and techniques.
  • Assisting in implementing policies and practices for the design and pricing of insurance financial products.


What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:
  • Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) or close to FSA exam progress.
  • Actuarial/insurance experience of 5 or more years with demonstrated knowledge of professional standards of practice, the legislative environment and industry best-practices
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be an innovative thinker and understand the "big picture"
  • Strong working experience with GGY AXIS and MS Excel
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical audiences


Nice-to-Have:
  • Working experience with SQL, and various database software
  • Experience working with teams across different platforms
