This Opportunity

Our Chicago office is seeking an Assistant Portfolio Manager to join the Portfolio Management team. The Assistant Portfolio Manager will work closely with the Fund Portfolio management team across all aspects of the HVP Fund series.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversight of business plan execution across multiple property sectors for assets within all vintages of the HVP series
  • Lead a team of asset managers responsible for delivering investment results
  • Regularly assess disposition timing and make recommendations to the Investment Committee
  • Evaluate forecasts and performance against stated objectives
  • Assist the current HVP team in collaboration with CSM for all marketing efforts on future funds as well as frequent client interaction/updates on existing funds
  • Participate in the formation and presentation of materials at the annual client conference
  • Work with the Fund Controller to monitor fund administration activities, including deployments, standing relative to investment objectives, capital tracking, co-investments, and performance attribution
  • Collaborate with Fund leadership, Acquisitions and market research to set strategy and ultimately identify/close new investment opportunities


Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of relevant, progressive industry experience (investment background, investor/consultant relationship management, etc.) across higher-risk investments, fund formation, fund administration, and/or fund investment management
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise complex judgment on investment and investor matters; collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to incorporate feedback from clients, investors, and internal team members into plans throughout the fund's lifecycle
  • Proven ability to build investor confidence and trust through strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, sound investment judgment, a strong drive for results, and consistent follow-through
  • Comprehensive understanding of the firm and competitive landscape, enabling effective contribution to Fund execution and active participation in developing future fund strategy, terms, structure, and marketing plans
  • Strong investment acumen - including judgment, research, and analytical skills - to help oversee portfolio construction, asset management execution, and dispositions; experience evaluating, closing, and financing approved investments
  • Experience leading internal teams, with strong leadership skills (feedback, coaching, goal setting) to motivate the team and positively influence partner groups both internal (e.g., CSM, ACQ) and external (e.g., JV partners, 3rd party service providers) in support of fund and investor goals

  • This position is based in our Chicago office.
  • Our teams work in a hybrid environment and in-office days vary by team.
  • Moderate to extensive travel required.
