This role is responsible for building the training, engagement, and community frameworks that help associates confidently use AI to drive business impact across the organization. As a key member of Ferguson's AI transformation team, the AI Fluency Manager will help establish and scale AI enablement. Initially, this role will directly lead both AI fluency and ambassador program activities, transitioning to people leadership as dedicated team members are added. This position is expected to manage at least two direct reports in the near term, including the AI Ambassador Program Owner and AI Fluency Program Manager, while continuing to shape the long-term vision for AI learning, adoption, and engagement across Ferguson.

Location: This is a Hybrid role based out of our HQ location in Newport News, VA, in accordance with our Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Own the strategy and roadmap for Ferguson's AI fluency programs, spanning awareness, literacy, capability, and mastery levels across associate segments
  • Recruit, develop, and support the AI Ambassador Program and Network across functions and geographies, including near-term ownership of Ambassador Program Owner responsibilities
  • Design and maintain the AI Fluency Training strategy in partnership with Ferguson Academy, leaning on Microsoft (Copilot) and Google (Gemini) for tool-specific content while keeping Ferguson-specific fluency in-house
  • Own internal storytelling for AI adoption - build and manage the AI Success & Wins repository and amplify wins in language that resonates with Ferguson's culture
  • Partner with leaders and AI Ambassadors to surface use cases and drive grassroots adoption at the point of work
  • Perform AI Fluency Program Manager functions in the near term - cohort scheduling, licensing coordination for training participants, AI tooling expansion training, etc.
  • Support role-based AI playbooks (prompt libraries by role, etc.) in partnership with business experts and functional leads
  • Track and report on fluency program participation, engagement, and Ambassador Network health for AI Council and leadership updates
  • Represent Adoption & Enablement in cross-functional planning on fluency, training, and adoption strategy

  • Experience designing enterprise-wide learning programs that measurably changed how people work
  • Strong facilitation, storytelling, and internal communications skills
  • Comfortable working across long-term planning, hands-on day-to-day execution, and people leadership simultaneously
