The Director of Group Sales is an experienced senior-level hotel sales leader reporting to the Director of Sales, Marketing and Events. This role is responsible for supporting in managing and leading the sales team while also handling key markets and accounts.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Key Responsibilities: - Oversee group business development strategy, directing outbound sales efforts, lead management, and relationship growth to drive revenue.
- Represent Thompson Austin and tommie Austin at industry events, sales trips, and trade shows to expand market presence and generate demand.
- Oversee sales team client entertainment and site inspections to ensure brand - aligned execution and strong conversion results.
- Direct the proposal and contracting process, ensuring timely responses, strategic RFP positioning, and brand - compliant agreements.
- Lead quarterly sales action plans focused on market penetration, account growth, and revenue performance.
- Ensure accurate documentation throughout the booking cycle to support seamless cross - departmental execution.
- Champion a high - touch client experience through collaboration with Operations, Event Planning, and Banquets.
- Oversee use of sales systems to manage pipeline performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Lead sales strategy meetings, business reviews, and planning sessions to align priorities and optimize results.
- Support broader sales and marketing initiatives in partnership with leadership.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the group sales team through coaching and performance management.
- Oversee key group accounts and markets to maximize revenue, retention, and long - term value.
- Contribute to annual business planning, forecasting, and reporting.
- Maintain accountability for group - related P&L performance and financial outcomes.
- Serve as Director in absence of Sales, Marketing and Events Director as needed.
Sales & Revenue Management: - Execute group sales strategy to maximize revenue and driver conversion
- Negotiate contracts and secure group business aligned with hotel topline revenue goals
- Manage group room blocks and oversee attrition and commission processes

- Oversee group-related communications including resumes and event details
- Monitor service delivery to ensure client satisfaction
Leadership & Team Development: - Conduct training, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions
- Develop individual career growth plans for team members
- Foster a culture aligned with Hyatt service standards
- Address performance issues and enforce company policies
Business Development: - Prospect for new business through calls, emails, networking, and partnerships
- Develop and execute strategic sales action plans
