Responsibilities

  • Perform and lead structural, thermal, modal, rigid body dynamics, and CFD analyses of turbocharger components using ANSYS.
  • Improve reliability and performance of turbo systems and components.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts on structural and aerodynamic design issues.
  • Author and archive written reports on analysis results with recommendations.
  • Learn and apply design tools such as Creo for CAD preparations.
  • Engage in ongoing training for engineering and interpersonal skills enhancement.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental policies.

Job Purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

The primary responsibility of the Application CAE Analyst position isto execute and help develop best practices for analysis of turbocharger components and systems, specifically related to thermal mechanical fatigue and creep of components, system-level modal analysis, and stage performance prediction through CFD and engine system analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs and/orleadsall structural, thermal, modal, rigid body dynamics, CFD,and engine level analyses of turbocharger components to confirm suitability for application using ANSYS and other software.
  • Helpsimprove reliability and performance of turbo systems and components.
  • Leads problem solving effortsonissues related to structuraland aerodynamicdesigns.
  • Authorsand archiveswrittenreports of all analysis results, including recommendations.
  • Possessesproficiencywith,orhas the ability tolearn,the basics of design tools such as Creofor purposes ofCAD preparation.
  • Engages inongoingtraining to upgrade capabilities in engineering and interpersonal areas byformal trainingandstudy.
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Adheres to and helpsenforce safe work proceduresand practices.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

What we are looking for

  • BSMErequired. Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
  • Musthave at leastthreeyears of experience as a simulation analyst running a variety of
  • structural, fluid, and thermal analyses.
  • At leastthreeyears of experience with ANSYS softwareishighly beneficial.
  • Experience performing fatigue / lifetime calculations of high-speed rotating machineryispreferred.
  • Thermal fatigue, conjugate heat transfer, and creep analysis experience (CFD andFEA)isa plus.
  • Experience developing integrated and automated tools and techniques such as scriptingis
  • highlybeneficial.
  • Strongproblem-solvingskills arerequired.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in developing and executing design optimization through DOEs desirable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products 64 Outlook, Word, Excel, & Power Point.
