Job Description
CoreFactor is searching for a Power System Applications Manager on a permanent/full time basis for a client in the GTA.

This position is hybrid and will require the successful incumbent to come into the Toronto office 2 times per week.

The Role:

The Power Systems Applications Manager will support the Director by managing (i.e. evaluating requirements, identifying issues and drivers, setting strategy, evaluating options, developing and providing ongoing sustainment of integrated solutions) the major transmission and distribution applications and tools at the Ontario Grid Control contributing to: (a) achieve corporate performance targets (b) comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards (c) fulfill customer expectations (d) meet or exceed workers and public safety and (e) efficiency of the Ontario electricity system. This includes tracking industry trends, collaborating with the IESO, NPCC, NERC, internal partners and suppliers, assessing system events for lessons learned and implementing processes and systems to ensure compliance with market rules and ongoing regulatory readiness.

General Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Director, Power System IT, in work planning, resource planning, setting department vision and strategy for Power System IT
  • Provide governance oversight in the performance of Power System IT investment on enterprise business values
  • Represent the department (Power System IT) to collaborate with LOBs in addressing business and service requirements
  • Provide direction and input to the strategic business planning process.
  • Provide visible leadership to develop and maintain a safe and healthy workplace to create value for our customers
  • Help create a culture and maintain a work environment where employees can be fully engaged
  • Maintain and enhance power system IT applications, tools and related databases to ensure reliable and secure power system operations.
  • Ensure the organization has the necessary, cost-effective and dependable power system IT applications, tools and related databases to perform power system operations
  • Ensure power system applications and tools have continuity capability and can be recovered in a disaster situation
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base of technical expertise to ensure safe, reliable operation of power system IT applications - both internally and through outsourced services
  • Ensure quality, performance and integration of delivered power system IT applications Ensure application integrity in core power system IT applications
  • Ensure the centralized grid control centre application roadmap is aligned with overall corporate and information strategy
  • Design all centralized grid control centre power system related application solutions in alignment with a continually enhanced reference architecture


Requirements
  • BA or BSc in Computer Science, Engineering At least 12 years experience in IT, Control Systems, Application Development
  • Experience managing IT services, either as a service recipient or service delivery
  • Demonstrated Management Skills:
  • Relevant experience in the governance and management of Service Level policy Relevant experience in the ITIL framework and other IT standard of best practices Experience in financial management and control
  • Strong communication skills in SDLC to business
  • Ability to assess enterprise risk with proper recommendation in remediation Ability to persuade, convince, influence behavior
  • Ability to lead and work in a multi-team environment and drive completion of deliverables Information seeking - ability to acquire information relevant to the achievement of valued goals
  • Strategic business thinking - ability to apply technical knowledge and experience to making management decisions for achieving business objectives
