Job Summary:This is an Internal Employment OpportunityThis recruitment will be used to fill one full time (1.00 FTE), Analyst Programmer: Analytics Engineer, competency level 2, position for University Information Technology at Oregon State University (OSU). Key Responsibilities:- Plan, Build, and Maintain Enterprise-Facing Data Assets: Design, build, and maintain enterprise-ready analytical models, semantic layers, dashboards, reports, and analytical views that support institutional operations, planning, and decision making.
- Sustainable Solution Design: Translate business requirements into well-structured, accurate, and reusable data models and reporting products in collaboration with technical and functional partners across OSU.
- Validation, Testing and Documentation : Develop and optimize data transformations, analytical models, and reporting solutions within OSU's modern data platform, including medallion architecture and enterprise semantic model patterns. Conduct structured testing, peer review, validation, and documentation of data transformations, model logic, business rules, and reporting outputs to support trusted enterprise use.
- Innovation, Emerging Technologies and Continuous Learning: Support continuous improvement of OSU's analytical ecosystem by reducing duplication, improving data quality and usability, and advancing sustainable self-service analytics through continuous learning, community enablement, and exploratory work with emerging analytics capabilities including responsible use of AI/ML where appropriate.
- Data Community, Learning, and Service: Strengthen OSU's data culture by building collaborative relationships, supporting knowledge sharing and data literacy, engaging in professional development, and contributing to mentoring, service, and community initiatives that enhance team effectiveness and the university's reporting ecosystem.
Qualifications:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency using SQL in a professional setting for modeling or reporting work
- Experience developing, validating, and maintaining data models, transformations, or analytical data products in a production environment
- Experience developing dashboards and reports in enterprise grade tools (Power BI, Tableau etc).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-paced team-based environment with changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 2+ years experience developing, validating, and maintaining data models, transformations, or analytical data products in a production environment.
- Experience using at least one additional programming or scripting language (such as Python) to support data preparation, validation, or prototyping.
- Experience working in a production environment for a large, complex organization.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Professional experience working with modern, cloud-based platforms.
- Professional experience developing data transformations using dbt or similar SQL or other programming-based transformation frameworks.
- Demonstrated applied professional experience performing data modeling and data analytics from an operational system or ERP.
- Demonstrated experience with advanced statistical and effective storytelling techniques with data.
- Demonstrated experience independently completing data, analytics, and/or Business Intelligence related projects.
Working Conditions/Schedule:Schedule
This position will work a typical Monday - Friday schedule and will be based on the Corvallis campus.
This position may at times require work outside of normal business hours and/or weekends.
Modality
Hybrid: This position is designated as hybrid, working both on-site and remotely. The exact amount of on-site and remote work and schedule will be discussed with the supervisor. Hybrid work is dependent on business needs.
Salary Range:$66,132 - $122,736
