Responsibilities:JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Trial Contract Analyst III is a senior subject matter expert responsible for leading complex contract negotiations and ensuring institutional risk is minimized while supporting research growth. This role is accountable for high-value or novel agreements, escalated issues, and strategic sponsor relationships. Senior Analysts provide guidance and training to junior staff, model effective negotiation strategies, and collaborate with leadership to refine institutional templates, policies, and workflows. They are expected to drive team accountability, partner with stakeholders across finance, compliance, and legal, and contribute to organizational goals such as accelerated trial activation and improved sponsor satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Complex Contract Leadership:
Leads negotiations for complex, high-value, or novel agreements (e.g., first-in-human, global multi-arm).
Ensures institutional risk is minimized while supporting research growth. - Subject Matter Expertise & Escalation:
Provides expert advice on advanced contract strategy and risk mitigation.
Serves as point of resolution for escalated or sensitive issues. - Sponsor & Vendor Relations:
Builds and maintains strategic relationships with major sponsors, CROs, and vendors.
Improves contract turnaround times and enhances institutional reputation. - Team Mentorship & Oversight:
Trains and mentor's junior and mid-level analysts on advanced negotiation practices.
Provides quality oversight to ensure accuracy and accountability. - Policy & Process Improvement:
Partners with leadership to refine templates and institutional policies
Leads initiatives to streamline processes and align organizational goals. - Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Bachelors in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, Law, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of degree Required
- Masters MBA, MHA, MPH, or related Preferred
- Doctorate Juris Doctor (JD) Preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 5 years with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role - Clinical trial contract negotiation or research administration Required
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiating complex and high-value clinical trial agreements. Required
- Experience leading or mentoring a team of contract analysts. Preferred
- Experience engaging with senior institutional leadership, sponsors, and CROs on strategic contract initiatives. Preferred
- Demonstrated track record of process improvement, policy development, or template refinement. Preferred
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Advanced certification in clinical research or contract management (e.g., CRCP, CCRP, CCRA, Certified Professional Contracts Manager [CPCM]) Preferred
- Licensed attorney Preferred
