Full Job Description
VG Systems is seeking an experienced Agile Scrum Lead & Backlog Analyst to support a collaborative team delivering technical solutions for a Federal Government customer. The ideal candidate is an organized and proactive Agile practitioner who can bring structure and clarity to complex work, lead Scrum ceremonies and Agile delivery, facilitate collaboration across business and technical teams, maintain a healthy and actionable backlog, translate business and technical needs into well-defined work items, and administer Azure DevOps as an accurate and trusted source of delivery information.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and facilitate core Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Feature Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Foster a collaborative team environment focused on transparent communication, continuous improvement, and effective delivery
  • Identify and surface impediments, risks, and dependencies while coordinating with appropriate stakeholders to drive resolution
  • Maintain backlog health through grooming and refinement, ensuring work is prioritized, defined, and ready for upcoming sprints
  • Partner with Product Owners and technical teams to organize work across Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • Capture business and technical requirements through workshops, discovery sessions, working groups, and cross-team forums
  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear, actionable Epics, Features, User Stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize the team's Azure DevOps project environment, including boards, sprints, iterations, dashboards, queries, analytics, and Delivery Plans
  • Maintain Azure DevOps data quality, consistency, and traceability to provide reliable visibility into progress, dependencies, priorities, and delivery forecasts
  • Maintain clear communication across business stakeholders, technical teams, Product Owners, project leadership, and other delivery partners
  • Continuously evaluate team processes and recommend practical improvements that strengthen backlog health, collaboration, delivery visibility, and sprint execution


Required Skills:

  • 3+ years of Agile/Scrum experience; strong familiarity with Agile concepts and vocabulary
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile Management Tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow Agile, etc); Azure DevOps highly preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working in an IT organization; strong understanding of software development concepts, including design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Lead Scrum ceremonies and facilitate productive working sessions across cross-functional teams
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks and practices, including Scrum and Kanban, with familiarity with SAFe concepts
  • Strong proficiency with industry-standard tools for Agile planning (Jira, ServiceNow Agile 2.0, etc.), work-item management, boards, dashboards, queries, analytics, sprints, iterations, and Delivery Plans
  • Translate business and technical requirements into clear, structured, and actionable Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • Strong understanding of backlog management, refinement, prioritization, acceptance criteria, and Agile work readiness
  • High skill level with M365 Suite and SharePoint
  • Strong experience using MS Teams for scheduling, communication, and collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-engagement skills
  • Strong analytical with attention to detail and commitment to maintaining backlog and work-item quality
  • Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, technical teams, business stakeholders, project leadership, and other delivery partners
  • Identify delivery risks, impediments, and dependencies and facilitate
    appropriate resolution
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining an organized and transparent Agile delivery environment


Experience & Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related IT or management field
    (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
  • Management or Agile Certifications (PMI, Scrum.org, etc)
  • Relevant technical certifications (MS Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert)


Desired:
  • 2+ years of experience working in the US Federal Government space
  • Active Public Trust


Work Location & Travel Requirements:

Primarily remote. DC-area onsite support required 1-2x/month for local candidates or 1-2x/year for distant candidates. Eastern/Central U.S. preferred.
