Overview

Who we're looking for

Toyota's Accounting Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Accounting Initiatives Consultant.

The primary responsibility of this role is to apply technical accounting expertise, contribute to process improvements, and act as a reliable resource for both recurring tasks and ad hoc financial initiatives.

Reporting to the TFSB National Manager of Accounting, the person in this role will support month-end close, financial reporting, and accounting projects.

What you'll be doing

Projects & Continuous Improvement (40%)
  • Participate in and/or lead finance transformation initiatives, process automation, or system integration.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on business improvement and efficiency (Kaizen) projects.
  • Develop documentation, SOPs, and internal controls related to assigned areas.
  • Provide financial insights and data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Independently identifies process improvements.
  • Communicates overall status of project to leadership and wider project/Factory team(s)
  • Identifies, documents, and resolves risks and roadblocks
  • Partners with the Domain Factory Owner (DFO) to:
    • Manage and prioritize project backlog
    • Provide requirements to the technical team
    • Identify and include stakeholders


Operational Support - Month-End Close & Reporting (60%)

  • Prepare and review quarterly reporting deliverables (Annual Filings and inter-office
  • reporting to Japan)
  • Support ad hoc reporting needs that meet Business, US GAAP, IFRS, Bank Regulatory, Japan or other standard requirements.
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and internal deadlines.
  • Support intercompany reconciliations.
  • Produce and analyze financial reports, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Ensure business continuity by quickly ramping up on processes and delivering expected outputs.
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right resources to remove impediments.
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem-solving.
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution and getting the work done in a positive manner.
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.


What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • CPA license
  • 7+ years of progressive Accounting & Reporting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)


Added bonus if you have

  • A MBA or an advanced degree
  • Possess excellent prioritization and management skills as well as proven ability in the identification, assessment and contingency planning and managing for risk factors
  • Experience with project work or change management in a finance/accounting setting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (i.e. SAP, Oracle, or equivalent systems)
  • Proficient in MS Excel (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, etc.)
  • Skilled at delivering executive-level messaging
  • Proven consultative, conflict resolution, negotiation, and facilitation skills to gain consensus and ensure delivery of initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills

The annual base salary range for this position is $114,200.00 - $185,600.00.Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan.
