Full Job Description
As an Accounting Analyst III based in Houston, Texas, you will provide accounting expertise by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial information that supports business and leadership decision-making. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements while serving as a resource to internal and external customers. You will also identify opportunities to improve processes through technology, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities/Expectations:
  • Performs assigned month-end activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting, and variance analysis
  • Prepares, maintains, and develops schedules, reports, and analyses for internal and external customers
  • Provides requested documentation and clear explanations to support audit activities
  • Participates in small projects with minimal supervision and serves as a resource for less experienced colleagues
  • Processes and analyzes significant volumes of financial and operational data, transactions, and issues
  • Other duties as assigned


Education/Years of Experience:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major with a strong accounting focus and a minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience in the energy industry
  • Preferred: CPA


Other Requirements:

  • Analyze monthly activity and volume fluctuations and explain variances
  • Understand and comply with SOX controls and related requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills while fostering effective collaboration across teams and departments with a commitment to safety
  • Ability to work overtime during critical month-end and quarter-end closing and reporting periods
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Preferred: Knowledge of U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Preferred: Experience in revenue accounting
