The best states for working dads in 2020 and how to get hired in them now

In 2019, over 93% of dads with kids younger than 18 in the United States were employed. While many people have been furloughed or laid off as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, men are being let go less than women.

The rate of unemployment is not as severe for working dads as it is for working moms, but a new study determined that some dads definitely have it better than dads across the country.

As Father’s Day approaches, it’s a great time to look at what factors create the best environment for working dads. A new Wallethub study compared metrics across three general dimensions that affect working dads most: economic and social well-being, work-life balance, child care, and health. As a result, the study has found the best and worst states for working dads in 2020.

The best and worst states for working fathers

Massachusetts was found to be the best state for working dads in 2020 with a total score of 74.96. The New England state came in first for work-life balance and best child-care, third for economic and social well-being rank, and fourth for health rank.

New Mexico is the worst state for working dads in 2020, with a total score of 35.85. The southwestern state came in last for economic and social well-being, 43rd for health, 47th for child care, and 22nd for work-life balance.

For 2020, Massachusetts was found to be the best state for working dads. The New England state came in first for work-life balance and best child-care, third for economic and social well-being rank, and fourth for health rank.
