What You Will Do

As the Work Execution Manager (WEM), you will provide technical leadership and day-to-day management for the Workplace Experience work execution team. This highly visible position requires an exceptional commitment to customer service, strong organizational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication. You will help strengthen partnerships with facility directorates, coordinate work execution across multiple technical disciplines and construction channels, improve operational performance, and uphold best-in-class service standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will oversee facility upgrades and work management activities supporting facility directorates and programs across the Laboratory. You will collaborate daily with Maintenance Managers and Facility Operations and Maintenance Management teams from each Facility Operations Directorate. Success in this role requires the ability to organize complex workloads, establish clear priorities, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and provide customers with timely, accurate, and professional communication. You will ensure work is planned, scheduled, coordinated, and executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational and mission priorities.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of superintendents, technicians, and skilled workers committed to responsive, solutions-oriented customer service.
  • Establish clear customer service expectations and ensure the team provides professional, timely, and consistent support throughout the work execution process.
  • Maintain frequent, transparent, and effective written and verbal communication with customers, Workplace Experience team members, Facility Operations Directorate team members, deployed services, subcontractors, and the craft workforce.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple work activities, schedules, resources, customer requests, and competing operational needs across Facility Operations Directorates.
  • Provide customers and stakeholders with accurate status updates, clearly communicate schedule changes or potential impacts, and promptly address questions and concerns.
  • Direct facility upgrade and modification activities in support of safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.
  • Oversee installations and facility modifications performed by outside vendors and coordinate associated craft activities.
  • Partner with operations, programmatic customers, maintenance, and work management leaders within each Facility Operations Directorate to align resources, schedules, priorities, and customer expectations with mission needs.
  • Facilitate productive meetings, document decisions and action items, and ensure commitments are tracked through completion.
  • Champion compliance with safety requirements, authorization-basis requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer service, streamline processes, increase facility reliability, reduce costs, and strengthen maintenance and work execution performance.
  • Apply strong technical judgment and sound decision-making to resolve complex facility, engineering, scheduling, and work execution challenges so work can continue safely and effectively.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical information, work status, priorities, risks, schedule changes, and expectations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to listen to customer needs, manage expectations, resolve concerns, and maintain productive relationships during challenging situations. Proven organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate competing demands, maintain accurate documentation, track commitments, and ensure timely follow-through. Demonstrated ability to lead effective meetings, communicate decisions, assign action items, and hold responsible parties accountable for completion.

Facility & Project Management: Extensive knowledge of and experience with facility or project management, including architecture and design programming, construction engineering, safety and authorization basis, work control, and facility control systems. Extensive experience supporting major construction projects, facility upgrades, renovations, and system modifications. Extensive knowledge of government regulations and requirements affecting facility maintenance and project management. Demonstrated ability to organize complex projects, coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage schedules and resources, and keep customers informed throughout the work execution process.

Operations: Extensive knowledge of facility and site work hazards, safe work practices, operating configurations, and lockout/tag-out policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical, electrical, and physical-system documents, including blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Demonstrated success identifying performance issues, evaluating alternative solutions, and determining effective corrective actions. Strong technical knowledge of facility directorate roles and responsibilities, engineering, and work execution in complex operating environments.

Leadership & Team Development: Demonstrated experience managing and supervising employees, including responsibility for human resources administration. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement organizational strategies, priorities, objectives, and customer service standards. Proven success providing clear direction, mentorship, workload prioritization, and performance management. Demonstrated ability to lead in a collaborative and participative environment while building strong, capable, accountable, and customer-focused teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust, resolve conflict, influence outcomes, and work effectively across technical, operational, programmatic, and management organizations.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
