Level/Title position is reporting into: VP, Merchandising, Outlet & Off-Price

Job Summary:
The Women's Merchant, Outlet owns Cut & Sew and RTW product development and assortment strategy for the Women's Outlet business across all channels, from pre-season strategy through in-season execution. This role blends product instincts, customer and competitive insight, and analytical rigor to build assortments that deliver on brand, customer, and financial goals. The Merchandiser partners closely with Design, Planning, Production, Allocation, Marketing, Visual, E-commerce, and Stores to bring the seasonal strategy to life.

Responsibilities:
Pre-Season
  • Set the seasonal merchandising strategy and line plans, including key items, newness, carry-forward, and breadth/depth, by translating brand vision, customer insight, and trend into commercial opportunities
  • Use hindsight, performance data, and competitive/marketplace trends to shape product and assortment strategy
  • Partner with Planning on financial plans, investment strategy, and inventory needs; own pricing strategy to maximize sales, margin, and SKU productivity
  • Brief Design on the seasonal roadmap, including category needs, key items, flow, pricing, and AUC; provide ongoing commercial feedback through design reviews and development
  • Present strategy to cross-functional partners and leadership; own key milestones and timely decision-making across the seasonal calendar
In-Season
  • Manage the business day-to-day, including sales, inventory, margin, and markdowns, identifying risks and opportunities with Planning and Allocation
  • Analyze performance by category, style, color, and channel, and act by chasing, expanding, repositioning, or exiting product as needed
  • Track competitive and customer trends to inform real-time recommendations
  • Partner with Design and Production on execution issues, and with Marketing, Visual, E-commerce, and Stores to elevate key items and seasonal stories across touchpoints
  • Report performance and recommendations to leadership; feed in-season learnings back into future line plans
Requirements: (skills, qualifications, education, etc)
  • 6+ years of experience in merchant or buying roles in apparel/fashion retail; women's apparel experience strongly preferred
  • Strong product instincts and taste level, with a skill for spotting trend-right, commercially viable opportunities
  • Proven grasp of assortment strategy, line planning, and retail buying/financial fundamentals, including sales, margin, AUC, pricing, and markdowns
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into clear action
  • Cross-functional leadership and communication skills; comfortable driving decisions in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with merchandising, ERP, or PLM systems a plus

Salary: The target salary for this role is between $110,000 and $120,000 based on candidates' experience and expectations.
