Full Job Description
The Smart Home Analytics (SHA) team is seeking a WiFi Subject Matter Expert to bridge the knowledge gap between advanced wireless technologies and our data-focused team members. In this critical role, you will help maximize the value of router data collection and ensure deep wireless networking expertise is readily available. You will be instrumental in testing, analyzing, and optimizing WiFi performance within an innovative smart home ecosystem. Req.#[redacted] Responsibilities Performance Testing & Validation: Conduct rigorous WiFi performance testing, generate throughput (TPut), KPI, and other performance metrics and statistics for tested devices Automation & Scripting: Write and customize automation and shell scripts to validate Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) such as TR-069 routers on the network, running experiments per vendor (ports, WiFi radios, SSID packets, etc.) Data-Intensive Collaboration: Leverage Python and Spark within data-intensive environments to process and analyze metrics, compile test reports, and prepare presentations Debugging & Root-Cause Analysis: Utilize advanced debugging tools to perform root-cause analysis and resolve complex performance bottlenecks Continuous Innovation: Eagerly learn and apply new technologies in data visualization and automation Requirements Prior experience with WiFi performance testing is required Very good understanding of 802.11ac/ax protocols is a MUST Ability to write automation scripts via Python is highly desired Demonstrated ability with Python and Spark within data-intensive environments Ability to write shell scripts to validate CPE (e.g., TR-069 routers) and customize scripts/experiments per vendor Familiarity with test equipment such as Octoscope or Veriwave Good knowledge of RF concepts: splitters, attenuators, antennas, and RF shielded boxes Familiarity with lab test equipment: Spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes Good knowledge of TCP/IP, L2 networking / switches, and Wireshark debugging tools Good knowledge of device management protocols like TR-069 Prior experience with debugging tools and root-cause analysis Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to compile comprehensive test reports and prepare stakeholder presentations Nice to have A solid background in database engineering and software development Understanding of wireless protocols such as 4G/5G
