Job Description:Job SummaryThe
WAN Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure. The role focuses on IP/MPLS networks, advanced routing protocols, network performance, Quality of Service, LAN/WAN operations, and data center networking. The position also supports network modernization, technical documentation, reporting, briefings, training, and network operations and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Design and engineer enterprise WAN architectures.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot IP/MPLS backbone networks.
- Implement and manage BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and EIGRP routing protocols.
- Analyze network performance and identify performance issues.
- Configure and troubleshoot Quality of Service (QoS), including policing, shaping, and queuing.
- Develop network bandwidth, performance, and security reports.
- Support data center hardware and software planning, upgrades, and deployments.
- Provide LAN, WAN, and general networking support.
- Provide technical operations and maintenance support.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Support meetings, briefings, and functional training.
- Support CONUS/OCONUS deployments and travel as required.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of relevant IT experience, or 7+ years of relevant IT experience.
- Strong understanding of network threats and network security.
- Experience with Microsoft server installation, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
- Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise WAN architectures.
- Experience with BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS.
- CCNP certification required.
- ITIL Foundation certification required or obtainable within the specified period.
- DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
