Full Job Description
About the Team
A part of Platform & Environment (IPE) organization, this VP Tennant role will play a central role in one of Workday's most impactful businesses. Workday's Core Implementation (IMPL) tenants generate significant annual revenue and serve as a key driver of customer satisfaction by enabling smooth transitions from testing to production environments.

This is a developing team at an exciting inflection point. The opportunity ahead is significant: modernizing the tenant portfolio, refining pricing and packaging, expanding adoption across existing and new customers, and integrating AI-ready and developer-focused tenant types into the portfolio. The IPE culture is grounded in humility and a strong work ethic, and this team will carry that same spirit as it builds something new from the ground up.

About the Role

As Vice President, Tenant on the IPE leadership team, you will own the end-to-end product and commercial strategy for Workday's tenant portfolio. This is a cross-functional leadership role where you will shape how customers discover, purchase, and get value from tenant environments, and where you will define how Workday grows and protects our revenue stream.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Defining the tenant product and portfolio strategy. You will build a coherent portfolio across all tenant types (production, sandbox, sandbox preview, implementation, trial, and demo) with clear tiers, use-case guidance, and segment-level rules of thumb (SMB, ME, LE, Majors). You will determine how AI, developer, partner, and acquired-product tenant types integrate into the portfolio and establish pricing and packaging guardrails.
  • Building and scaling the go-to-market operating model. You will position the tenant portfolio as a growth and agility enabler for customers, not a back-office cost. This includes developing sales plays, simple offers, and messaging tied to customer jobs-to-be-done for both new and existing customers, and defining success measures such as tenant attach rate, base expansion, and concession health.
  • Driving customer insights and buying journey improvements. You will systematically capture how customers and prospects learn about, evaluate, and purchase tenants, including confusion around entitlements, pricing perceptions, and portal friction. These insights will directly inform roadmap and GTM decisions.
  • Delivering near-term experience improvements. You will prioritize and ship improvements to tenant creation, refresh, backup/restore, and entitlement clarity, including stronger self-service controls, transparent data limits, and tooling that reduces complexity for Sales and Customer Success teams.
  • Establishing customer success and lifecycle management motions. You will define proactive post-sale motions including tenant health checks, right-sizing reviews, and standard responses to high-risk patterns such as under-provisioned setups, heavy concessions, and runaway usage.

  • Experience owning a P&L or revenue-generating product line with direct accountability for commercial outcomes

Other Qualifications
  • Product Strategy: Experienced in developing and executing product plans that account for target audiences, market dynamics, pricing, and distribution, with a focus on translating market trends and customer behavior into effective product positioning and lifecycle management
  • Portfolio Management: Skilled in managing and coordinating a portfolio of product investments, assets, and resources to achieve financial and strategic objectives, including understanding risk, aligning investments with business goals, and providing guidance on resource allocation to maximize returns

  • Financial Acumen: Skilled in understanding and interpreting business and financial data to make sound decisions, including analyzing revenue models, margin structures, pricing strategies, concession trends, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for profitable growth and cost optimization
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences and collaborate effectively across teams

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
