How will you make an impact in this role?
  • The Vice President, Property Development serves as the executive leader accountable for the successful planning, governance, execution, and delivery of the American Express New Global Headquarters Workplace and Amenities program.
  • Provide end-to-end leadership across workplace strategy, design, project controls, procurement, construction, technology integration, commissioning, occupancy readiness, move, change and stakeholder management.
  • Act as the single accountable executive responsible for achieving schedule, budget, quality, safety, sustainability, and colleague experience objectives across the design and construction of the Interiors Project.
  • Lead executive governance, decision-making, risk management, and reporting processes for one of the company's most significant capital investments.
  • Serve as the primary interface with the interior architects, engineers, consultants, construction managers, and senior business leaders. And lead the Interiors integration and coordination with the base building development team.
  • Lead and develop internal project teams while fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, collaboration, and innovation.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for all phases of the Global Headquarters workplace and amenities program from planning through occupancy.
  • Lead the project through the established governance structures, executive steering committees, reporting frameworks, and decision-making processes.
  • Oversee design development, procurement, permitting, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Maintain executive accountability for budget performance, forecasting, change management, and contingency utilization.
  • Lead integration between base building development and interior fit-out activities.
  • Drive resolution of major commercial, technical, operational, and stakeholder issues.
  • Ensure alignment among GREWE, Technology, Security, Facilities, Finance, Procurement, Legal, and other key business stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership and executive committees.
  • Lead project controls, schedule management, risk identification, and mitigation activities.
  • Manage external consultants, developers, construction managers, and key delivery partners.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 20+ years of experience leading large-scale commercial real estate, headquarters, mixed-use, or complex development projects.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects exceeding $1 billion in capital value.
  • Deep expertise in design management, construction management, project controls, risk management, procurement, and financial oversight.
  • Deep experience presenting to executive level audiences, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead complex decisions.
  • Experience working within developer-led and landlord-tenant project environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • PMP, PgMP, LEED, or related professional certification.
  • Experience delivering corporate headquarters projects and workplace transformation programs.
  • Experience with BIM, Digital Twin, Smart Building technologies, and advanced project controls platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, Power BI, Microsoft Project, Excel, and executive reporting tools.
