Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in product research in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • Experience in programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, C , Java, or Go).

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with data engineers, BI analysts, and program leads to embed validated survey instruments into data infrastructure and communicate insights that influence strategy.
  • Demonstrated expertise in survey design and statistical analysis of survey results, including questionnaire construction, sampling, bias mitigation, psychometric scale validation, and longitudinal outcome measurement.
  • A passion for social impact and philanthropy, with empathy for the motivations, constraints, and reporting realities of nonprofit and academic funding recipients.

As part of the Google.org Tech for Social Impact team, you will accelerate sustained social impact through technology. You will support Google.org and the wider ecosystem of nonprofits and civic entities through data infrastructure, data visualization tools, and products that help them accomplish their missions.

You will unify Google.org's data and operational workflows into a single, trusted source of truth across global giving, and enable Google.org global pillars and leadership to track and maximize the organization's overall philanthropic impact. You will achieve this by designing impact surveys deployed to Google.org funding recipients and partners, developing validated outcome scales, and performing statistical analysis of survey results to inform Google.org's reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Define and measure quantitative UX goals and metrics in collaboration with Designers, Qualitative Researchers, Data Scientists, Engineers and Program Managers.
  • Develop code and statistical models to understand user experience.
  • Conduct empirical research using methods from computer science, quantitative social science, statistics, econometrics, and other fields to understand user behavior and extract meaningful patterns from large data sets.
  • Examine existing data and product designs to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research.
  • Prioritize and drive research to improve user experience. Communicate findings to stakeholders in the company. Make research findings convincing and actionable for both research experts and non-experts.
