Job Title:USSPACECOM/SJS Decision Support SME

KBR Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate to provide support to the U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM) Secretariat of the Joint Staff as a Decision Support Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. Position ends on December 21, 2026.

In this role, you will support the Secretariat of the Joint Staff efforts to codify results of analytical efforts including developing and implementing command policies and procedures and synchronizing staff activities to drive informed decision-making. This includes research, analysis, and appropriate products to support the Commander's senior leader internal and external communications.

A successful Decision Support SME will have a strong background and experience with senior military leaders and be able to independently execute assigned tasks, lead meetings, and interface with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and analyze staff inputs to develop the command's foundational policies and procedures, including the Terms of Reference and the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinate with the staff and analyze the USSPACECOM strategic engagements and events appropriate for adding to the CDR's Strategic Calendar.
  • Analyze and consolidate command provided updates to develop the weekly Chief of Staff command-wide messaging to synchronize, inform, and educate the staff.
  • Synchronize and analyze staff efforts to provide support and ensure suitable preparation for senior leader engagements across the DoD and Space community of interest.
  • Produce Secretariat of the Joint Staff inputs related to analysis and assessments to Chief of Staff's weekly meeting including command successes, Secretariat of the Joint Staff focus areas, and areas of concern.
  • When the Commander is absent, analyze and develop a daily high-level summary of command activities and matters of interest for the Commander's review.
  • Analyze and develop solutions to ensure the Command's battle rhythm nests within the DoD and partner schedules and supports the Commander's decision-making processes.


Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of space experience and 15+ years total experience - a seasoned individual who has experience at a strategic/headquarters level and knowledge of space missions and organizations.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required.
  • Experience with providing strategic advice, technical guidance, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Ability to identify and resolve challenges at a strategic level.
  • Ability to brief/interact with senior (GO/FO) level military and civilian leaders.
  • Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality products in a high-tempo, collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Accustomed to professionally working with internal and external senior leaders, offices, directorates, and action officers.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered for this position.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous strategy, planning, action officer/contractor experience on a CCMD, MAJCOM, HHQ, Joint Staff, OSD etc. staff highly desired.
  • Headquarters experience in USSPACECOM, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Air Force, Combatant Command, SpOC, MAJCOM, STARCOM or equivalent.
  • Completion of JPME I is highly desired, and JPME II is preferred.
  • Task Management Tool (ETMS2) proficiency.

Compensation:
  • For Colorado only, the salary range for this position is approximately $120,000 - $135,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.


Other Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
