Fitch Ratings' US Public Finance Local Government group is currently seeking an Analyst, or Senior Analyst, either in our New York, Austin, Chicago or San Fransico office. About the TeamThe US Public Finance Local Government Rating Group is responsible for assigning new and monitoring existing ratings on local government and special purpose district issuers throughout the United States. Security ratings are assigned to general obligation, lease revenue and dedicated tax and revenue bonds.
How You'll Make an Impact:- Analyze quantitative and qualitative factors to prepare Fitch's Local Government Rating Model for assigning new and monitoring existing ratings
- Review annual comprehensive financial reports, budgets, capital plans and other public disclosure statements
- Identify rating-relevant issues for review by the analytical team and rating committee
- Meet with issuers and their fiscal agents during management meetings
- Present rating recommendations and serve as voting member on rating committees
- Support publication of rating action commentaries, research reports and Fitch Wires
- Attend industry events and interact with investors, bankers, and other market participants
You May be a Good Fit if you:- Have 3 years of relevant research or analytical experience in U.S. public finance
- Demonstrate strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Can shift between multiple projects as priorities change
What Would Make You Stand Out: - You have a Global Credit Certificate (MICP), CFA or master's degree in finance, business or public administration preferred
- You have rating agency or financial advisory experience
- You have experience interacting with local government issuers, investors, financial advisors and bankers
