Position descriptionThe Urgent Care Manager is a skilled member of the health team who provides medical and educational services in collaboration with the physician. As the manager, you serve as a primary resource and are responsible for leading the clinician and RN teams of your department. You are responsible for role optimization, orientation of new team members, advocacy, staffing, day-to-day clinical schedules and coordination, and act as the liaison for your department. You may work with a wide range of patients and provide quality care from maintenance and prevention to treating injury and illness. This individual works within a cooperative department, utilizing team effort with health care clinicians, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.
Responsibilities- Serve as department liaison and a resource to your department
- Responsible for all department staffing and recruiting
- Complete new team member orientations
- Manage day-to-day clinical schedules and ensure department coverage
- Stay up to date with latest evidence-based medicine
- Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses and provide treatment
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
- Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Dictate and document all patient interactions
- Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
- Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
Qualifications- Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License, Physician Assistant
- Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body
- Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
- Previous leadership experience, preferred
- Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology
- A sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
