Field Safety Manager - Traveling
S.J. Louis Construction, Inc. currently has an immediate opportunity for a Traveling Safety Manager
Responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Director of Safety and Risk Management, assists in the planning, administration implementation and enforcement of the Company's Safety Programs to control risks and losses.
Assists with implementation of job specific requirements relating to safety, hazard analysis and emergency action plans
Facilitates drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company, federal and state requirements.
Conducts regular safety audits and inspections of assigned construction projects and other onsite personnel. Identifies hazardous conditions and reports findings to the Director of Safety. Ensures safety issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Facilitates safety and loss control training for supervisors, employees and subcontractors, as required by Company Policy, Outside Regulatory Agencies or Contract Specifications
Organizes and maintains required record keeping of site safety activities, employee training and certifications
Conducts accident /incident investigations as needed. Identifies root cause(s) and recommends corrective action measures
Ensures accident/incident reporting procedures and medical treatment/first aid plans are followed
Prepares and submits required reporting to the Director of Safety and Risk Management
Reports observations or violations to the Director of Safety and Risk Management for enforcement
Records hazards and personnel exposure occurrences as required
Provides understanding and interpretations of local, provincial and federal regulations and statutes relative to environmental safety, employee safety, and Workers' Compensation to ensure the Company's compliance
Assists in maintaining positive and productive relationships and communication with employees, outside agencies or organizations as appropriate
Frequent travel required - up 80% - 100%
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Experience in Excavation and Trenching Safety a Must
Confined space experience required
Thorough knowledge of 29 CFR 1926
A history of developing effective Safety initiatives that reduce accidents/incidents and heighten Safety awareness among employees
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual in Spanish is a preferred!
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
Ability to travel to jobsites throughout the United States - up to 80% - 100%
