Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a healthcare team to provide quality nursing care.
  • Manage patient care for both Intermediate Care and Medical-Surgical units.
  • Monitor and assess patients' conditions to implement care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on health management and recovery.
  • Assist in the transition of patients from ICU to Intermediate Care.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a RN Traveler for their Stepdown IMCU & Med-Surg floor!

Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Burn Trauma Intermediate Care & Med-Surg

Department/Position Overview:

Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care. The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Also, there are 17 beds for Medical/Surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves). Our nurses are trained to work both the intermediate and the medical surgical side. The nurse to patient ratio for the Intermediate Care beds are 3 to 4 and for the Medical/Surgical beds are 5 to 6. The Registered Nurse will work in a collaborative role as part of a team to maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice, to meet the health care needs of patients, their families, and the community.

Education
  • Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required


Certification/Licensure
  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ACLS
  • NIH Stroke Scale


Experience
  • Must have 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience
