Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Transdev's high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle.
- Operate with safety as the primary goal;
- Be the deputy for technology by communicating courteously with management, engineers, and the public;
- Be a leader among the instructor group and liaison between the Transdev training managers;
- Supervise and/or conduct classroom sessions and training presentations for new operators to the Testing Operations team;
- Schedule ILT (Instructor Led Trainers) to match curriculum calendar
- Collect feedback about classroom presentation, delivery and management
- Assist in creating and maintaining a training program and materials;
- Upkeep instructor resources and tools across location shifts
- Monitor completion of trainee reports (e.g. OJT records)
- Coordinate daily instructor assignments
- Lead and drive program development of training materials with the instructor group;
- Co-lead regular check-ins with Waymo-U about maintaining accurate and up-to-date content in LMS
- Become a resourceful guru on the most updated versions of autonomous vehicle systems (be the expert for the experts);
- Facilitate regular instructor assessments to support accountability to accurate knowledge being transferred to trainees
- Be able to safely orchestrate training needs and demands for multiple trainees across multiple cohorts;
- Implement a feedback loop between trainees and trainers for management review
- Conduct ride-alongs to ensure instructors are delivering training accurately and fairly
- Coordinate and schedule instructor assignments with all stakeholders
- Standardize and maintain consistent training practices across the organization;
- Participate in meetings and syncs with other locations (e.g. MTV-CAFB-Husky-PHX)
- Participate in weekly meetings with training managers and other instructors
- For training improvement discussions;
- Co-lead debriefs and other meetings with instructors on shift to discuss trainees' performance
- Ensure the onboarding of new-hires is administered effectively and with a positive attitude;
- Work with Training Manager on improving skills (communication, presentation delivery) for each instructor
- Assist with the development of new-instructors
- Practice a firm yet understanding teaching style to accommodate different learning styles;
- Be a role model to all instructors
- Conduct RODs for trainee policy violations
- Capable of responding quickly to changing and potentially high-pressure environments;
- Set the tone and example for less experienced Operations Drivers and new Instructors;
- Comply with Transdev's Autonomous Vehicle Division zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol or drugs by self-driving vehicle operators during a shift, including randomized drug testing;
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of relevant job experience; and
- Minimum 6 months as autonomous vehicle instructor required;
- Completed all Waymo-U training requirements to-date;
- ILT teaching experience
- Application of knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and ordinances, including accessibility legislation, environmental protection and worker health and safety.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Must have good attention to detail and be able to quickly and concisely describe their thoughts;
- Capable of responding quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios;
- Adapt quickly to new and developing technology;
- Cross-functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation;
- Must be able to multitask multiple technologies, including communications devices and vehicle status systems
- Must be able to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends, as well as overnight shifts and ability to travel up to 30% of the time;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must be self-motivated and demonstrate good judgment, in fast-paced, high stress environments; and
- Leadership skills to supervise classes with large groups of people.
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Use hands to finger; handle or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
- Must use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Most work is accomplished outdoors in a vehicle.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must be 21 years old;
- All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening
- Transdev maintains a Drug Free Workplace and may require participation in a random drug screening program.
- Transdev reserves the right to perform ongoing background checks for all employees except in states where this is prohibited by state law. Transdev will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
- Employees must maintain an acceptable Driving Record suitable to being approved to drive as part of their regular duties. Records are monitored on an ongoing or regular basis pursuant to local state law.
- Ability to qualify for an Autonomous Vehicle Tester (AVT) license in states and positions where it's required
