About the Role

The VP, Strategic Initiatives supports TMG's leadership team - comprising the Managing Partner, Head of Client Strategy, Head of Growth, and Head of Talent - by ensuring day-to-day execution, follow-through, and communication on strategic priorities. The role focuses on execution rigor - developing executive-ready materials, tracking key issues, coordinating across functions, and summarizing complex topics into concise insights for awareness and decision support. This role delivers hands-on, tactical execution support, driving change management to free up the leadership team's time and attention for high-impact strategic and client work.

What You Will Do

This is a hands-on role focused on:

Creating Executive Materials and Communications
  • Develop, edit, and manage high-quality presentations, dashboards, and briefing materials for recurring leadership meetings, forums, and strategic projects.
  • Produce polished presentations and reports that require minimal revision and consistently meet executive-level standards.
  • Translate complex operational and financial information into clear, concise summaries or reports that tell a story.
  • Ensure all materials are accurate, well-structured, and aligned with the leadership team's priorities.
  • Ensure that leadership team is consistently prepared, well-informed, and proactively aware of upcoming issues and priorities.
  • Draft and manage internal communications on behalf of the leadership team, including firmwide messaging and communications to senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and consistency.

Issue Tracking and Follow-Up
  • Track and manage key projects, actions, deadlines, commitments, and open issues to ensure follow-through and prevent critical items from being overlooked.
  • Proactively flag delays, dependencies, risks, and items requiring escalation.
  • Coordinate updates across multiple stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information flow.

Executive Project and Initiative Support
  • Provide project-management support for strategic firm projects, including milestone tracking, tracker management, status reporting, and risk and dependency identification.
  • Ensure initiatives remain aligned with leadership intent, expectations, and timelines, translating strategic projects into clear roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
  • Triage priorities and manage competing demands to keep the leadership team focused on the highest-impact activities; partner closely with Administrative Business Partners to optimize calendars and follow-ups.
  • Lead change management efforts for key firm initiatives, including stakeholder alignment, communication planning, and adoption tracking to ensure new processes and priorities take hold.

Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Maintain visibility into performance metrics and progress against key priorities.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to surface trends, risks, and opportunities that inform leadership decisions.
  • Build and maintain reporting tools and dashboards that keep the leadership team consistently prepared, well-informed, and proactively aware of upcoming issues and priorities.

Meeting and Operating Cadence Support
  • Own agenda development, pre-read preparation, content development (including PowerPoint decks) for the firm's leadership meetings, annual offsite, and Town Halls, partnering with the Administrative Business Partner team on schedule and logistical coordination.
  • Capture and distribute clear, well-structured meeting notes with ownership and next steps.
  • Standardize operating rhythms, templates, and reporting formats to improve consistency and efficiency across the firm's cadence.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Serve as a coordination point across teams for leadership requests, information needs, and updates.
  • Ensure information flows efficiently, accurately, and consistently across the firm.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with leaders and stakeholders at TMG and throughout Council Advisors.


What We're Looking For

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) a plus.
  • 6-8 years of experience as a VP, Strategic Initiatives, strategy consultant, or executive projects manager in a high-performance professional services setting such as consulting, investment banking, PE, corporate strategy, or a similarly rigorous, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating directly with senior executives and driving cross-functional initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including executive-level presentation development and data analysis.
  • Expertise in producing status reports, program updates, and executive dashboards.

Compensation

TMG offers a competitive base salary, discretionary bonus, and benefits package. A reasonable estimate of the base salary for this position is $160,000 - $200,000, with the potential for additional performance-based earnings. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws. Salary is one component of TMG's total rewards package, which includes a discretionary performance bonus, 401K, generous paid time off, benefits, and wellness program.

About Miles

Miles Laboratories was founded as the Dr. Miles Medical Company in Elkhart, Indiana, in 1884 by Dr. Franklin Lawrence Miles, a specialist in the treatment of eye and ear disorders, with an interest in the connection of the nervous system to overall health. The company is known for inventing products such as Alka-Selzer and One-A-Day vitamins. Miles operated as an independent firm from 1884 until 1979 and as a wholly owned subsidiary of Bayer AG from 1979 until 1995. At the company's peak in the 1960s and 1970s, it employed 3,300 people and produced more than two dozen products. In 1995, it was consolidated into the parent corporation. By 1890, the sales success of his patent medicine tonic, "Dr. Miles Restorative Nervine," in treating "nervous" ailments led him to develop a mail order medicine business. Miles also published Medical News, from 1884—a thinly disguised marketing vehicle for Nervine, now referenced as advertorials. Nervine remained on the market as a "calmative" until the late 1960s; Miles' bromide sedative syrup is considered "a precursor to modern tranquilizers." The company was at the heart of the 1911 antitrust Supreme Court case Dr. Miles Medical Co. v. John D. Park & Sons Co. After John D. Park & Sons Co. profited off of Dr. Miles' advertising while selling his products at rock bottom prices, the Supreme Court ruled that resale price maintenance, a form of vertical restraint, is illegal per se.
