Job DescriptionSponsorship Oversight Network Compliance AnalystCitizens Bank sponsors payment processors and fintech partners into Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. As a sponsor bank, Citizens is accountable for ensuring sponsored clients comply with payment network rules and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.
This role plays a critical part in protecting Citizens from regulatory, operational, financial, and reputational risk by executing proactive payment network compliance oversight, managing network inquiries and violations, and serving as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, sponsorship clients, and the payment networks.
Key Responsibilities:- Own and manage payment network compliance matters for sponsored clients, including merchant violations, compliance program notifications, third-party agent compliance, and enforcement actions to ensure timely remediation and prevent potential assessments.
- Act as a liaison between our sponsored clients and Visa, Mastercard, and Discover for compliance inquiries, reporting, and case management.
- Handle high-risk merchant and third-party agent registrations (initial and renewal), ensuring complete, accurate, and timely submissions.
- Track and maintain documentation supporting sponsor oversight obligations and network reporting requirements.
- Provide guidance, interpretation, and training on payment network rules, compliance programs to internal stakeholders and sponsorship clients.
- Periodically review and enhance compliance workflows to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness.

- Excellent analytical, investigative, and documentation skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of payment network rules and the ability to apply them to routine compliance activities.
- Comfortable operating in evolving environments where processes may not always be fully defined.
- Clear, professional communicator with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience:- 1-3 years of experience in payment network compliance, acquiring, sponsorship oversight, or payments compliance
- Working knowledge of Visa, Mastercard, and/or Discover compliance programs
- Familiarity with PCI DSS, Account Data Compromise (ADC), and third-party risk oversight
Education:- Bachelor's degree or 1-3+ years' experience in payments required
Pay TransparencyThe salary range for this position is
$86,000 - $101,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the budget, work location, and relevant skills and experience.
