Role description
Test Engineer - Detroit, MI
DUTIES:
• Performing HIL/PIL System Testing to validate the various controls & calibration features in engine control models using engineering tools such as CALTERM, LUIS, INSITE etc.
Study data gathered during testing and evaluate the validity of the results.
• Providing necessary documentation in the form Test Procedures, Test Plans, Calibration tuning & validation, Design Reviews and various trouble-shooting needs using C2ST, PTC
Integrity, PLM Windchill, MATLAB/ Simulink, and other engineering tools.
• Maintaining and tracking hardware inventory.
• Developing Automated Test Scripts for new software builds for Cummins Engines
• Working with other cross functional teams on projects like J1939 CAN bus load reduction and optimization, coordination of testing & validation for engine electronic hardware changes (ECM, sensors, actuators, etc.).
• Perform Bench Testing in support of DCR resolution, Calibration tuning, Calibration validation, and various trouble-shooting needs.
• Study data gathered during testing and evaluate the validity of the results.
• Identify problems, adjust, or make recommendations to resolve problems.
• Provide necessary documentation in the form Test Procedures, Test Plans, System Requirements.
• Maintain and track hardware inventory.
• Developing Automated Test Scripts for the Cummins PSBU Diesel Engine software builds.
• Analyze test data and make performance change recommendations
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related Engineering field and 4 years of Quality Assurance Engineering experience. Experience must include:
• 1 year of experience with HIL, system testing, issue debugging and troubleshooting
• 1 year of experience with PCAN explorer and CAN J1939 protocol
• 2 years of experience with testing of Diesel engines and components
• 1 year of experience with Simulink
• 3 years of experience with wiring diagrams
Telework: Part time or full-time telecommuting may be authorized with authorization from manager and HR.
Travel: Up to 5% travel to various unanticipated client locations for short or long term assignments.
BASE SALARY RANGE: $107,661.00 per year. Regional salary adjustments for CA, CO, NY and WA states are base + 20% - 30%.
