Role description
Job Title: Design Release Engineer - HVAC Refrigerant Loop Design
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Responsibilities:
The HVAC Design Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC compressor and A/C lines. The candidate will ensure the components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling and suppliers.
Duties will include (not limited to):
• Writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables.
• Candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required.
• Lead virtual team to design and perform CFD and FEA analysis for components to meet performance.
• Support pilot and pre-production build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of AC line and compressors.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or A/C line design/development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) also a plus.
• Solid hands-on experience knowledge of Unigraphics NX and CATIA
• Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and basic thermodynamics knowledge.
• Experience in e-compressors, chillers, EV components are a plus.
• Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
• Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics.
• Automotive assembly plant experience.
• HVAC system engineering knowledge.
• Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
