Eurofins EAG Materials Science is seeking a Technical Specialist with a strong background in materials characterization or advanced microscopy to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to transition into a role that blends technical expertise with customer engagement and strategic problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for customized analytical projects.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored analytical solutions.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and quotes, including statements of work.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Support the sales team by maintaining strong customer relationships and contributing to revenue growth.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge across a broad range of analytical methods.

Qualifications
  • B.S./M.S. in Materials Science or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Experience (academic or industrial) in surface analyst, materials science or microscopy.
  • Preferred experience with materials characterization and microscopy techniques (TEM, SEM, FIB/Dual Beam, X-ray, AFM, Raman etc.)
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Must be a proficient communicator and listener.
  • Strong analysis and judgment skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Needs to have excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Computer literate, high level of accuracy and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to handle multiple functions at the same time and maintain good organizational skills.

Standout candidates combine deep polymer failure-analysis expertise with the ability to scope, lead, and communicate complex investigations directly with clients.
  • 5+ years advanced microscopy or materials characterization experience with a strong track record in failure analysis/root-cause investigations (building test plans, narrowing hypotheses, and translating findings into clear conclusions).
  • Experience with advanced microscopy.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate client needs into an executable lab scope (assumptions, deliverables, turnaround, and success criteria) and contribute to proposals/quotes/SOWs.
  • Comfortable leading peer-to-peer technical conversations with clients on experimental design, data interpretation, and next-step recommendations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive outcomes under firm deadlines, including proactive risk escalation/conflict resolution.

Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, equipment etc.
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
  • Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and /or fingers.
  • Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.)
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
