What role you will play in our team

The Technical Sales Engineer - Fuels Dewaxing or Synthetic Fuels leverages technical, application, and commercial expertise to drive customer value, business growth, and market differentiation. This role leads the technical offering for fuels dewaxing solutions, supports global customer opportunities, collaborates with cross-functional and marketing teams to develop tailored solutions, contributes to intellectual property initiatives, and interfaces with ExxonMobil Alliance partners, while engaging customers worldwide through international travel. This role is located in Spring, TX and works under the day to day direction of the Global Customer Solutions Manager.

What you will do

  • Work hand-in-hand with Business Development Managers in support of a commercial proposal
    • Develop competitive technical proposals with a clear value proposition to the customer
    • Construct guarantees in concert with liabilities to balance technology performance risk in agreements
  • Interface with customers as the technical point of contact
    • Clearly communicating the technology and its value to them
    • Develop key contacts and establish relationships with customers at the end-use
    • Understand and provide context for technical risk being taken in agreements
    • Manage customer expectations versus guarantees
  • Supports Marketing to grow business value
    • Assess opportunities for value and prioritize
    • Assess competitiveness of the offer and provide support to the marketing plan
    • Prepare case studies or technology examples for marketing materials
    • Attend and occasionally present at conferences
  • Interface with ExxonMobil Technical Support: Providing technology guidance and oversight for Technical Proposals, Start-up and Operating Guides
  • Lead the Catalyst Licensing business interests with IP teams regarding strategy, patent memos and infringement risk assessments for the technologies
  • Seek opportunities to develop and deploy incremental technology improvements
  • Support Product Management regarding catalyst manufacturing on catalyst performance

About you

  • Chemical Engineer with at least 7 years (10 preferred) in fuels process technology or development, particularly with experience in reactor sizing, catalyst deactivation, kinetics and modelling (e.g. yields)
  • Background in (bio-) fuels, hydrotreating, hydrocracking or catalytic dewaxing process or catalyst required
  • Operations experience preferred (i.e. a rotation as a contact engineer area preferred)
  • Background with developing technical proposals and project economics (NPV models) preferred
  • Familiarity with pilot plants and development / deployment of catalytic technologies also preferred
