Technical Publications Manager

Location: Milwaukee / Southeast Wisconsin
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Cleaver-Brooks is seeking a Technical Publications Manager to lead the development, governance, and continuous improvement of technical documentation across multiple product lines. This role is responsible for documentation strategy, structured content initiatives, publication standards, and the delivery of high-quality customer-facing documentation.

The Technical Publications Manager partners closely with Engineering, Product Management, Service, Training, Manufacturing, and Marketing to support new product development, product updates, and enterprise documentation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Technical Publications function and establish documentation standards, processes, and best practices
  • Manage the development and maintenance of technical publications, including installation, operation, maintenance, and service documentation
  • Own structured authoring and content reuse initiatives within the Heretto CCMS environment
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and subject matter experts to develop accurate technical content
  • Establish content architecture, terminology standards, and publishing workflows
  • Manage documentation priorities, project schedules, and resource planning
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, efficiency, and scalability


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of technical documentation experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environment
  • Experience leading documentation projects, programs, or teams
  • Demonstrated experience with DITA-based authoring and structured content development
  • Experience working with a Component Content Management System (CCMS)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Heretto (EasyDITA) or a similar CCMS platform
  • Experience establishing documentation standards and governance processes
  • Background in industrial equipment, HVAC systems, boilers, or related technologies
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and control systems documentation
