Full Job Description
Overview

Do you get a quiet thrill from catching a misplaced comma? Does a poorly structured briefing keep you up at night? Do you believe that clear, compelling communication can actually change outcomes, even at the highest levels of government?

If so, we might be your people.

FWI is supporting the Defense Intelligence Agency's (DIA) Office of Corporate Communications (OCC), the team responsible for how one of the nation's most important intelligence agencies talks to Congress, the public, and its own workforce. And right now, we need a sharp, detail-obsessed Technical Editor/Writer to help us make sure every word we put out is accurate, polished, and on point. This isn't a "track changes and move on" kind of role. You'll be embedded in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where what you edit today could brief a senator tomorrow. The work is varied, the stakes are real, and the team is genuinely good at what they do.

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 0800–1700hrs.

Responsibilities What You'll Be Doing

Your days will be anything but monotonous. On any given week you might be:

  • Reviewing and polishing congressional briefings, articles, and correspondence before they go out the door — catching every grammatical hiccup, style inconsistency, and factual gap along the way
  • Collaborating with writers and visual information specialists to sharpen readability, tighten tone, and make complex content accessible to a wide range of audiences
  • Ensuring everything follows the right style guide — AP Style for corporate content, DIA's Correspondence Guide for formal correspondence
  • Digging into research to verify facts, dates, and sources, and helping writers find the right contacts and references for their stories
  • Supporting social media content, web copy, exhibits, and multimedia productions — because good editing doesn't stop at print
  • Attending weekly team syncs and project meetings to stay plugged into what's coming down the pipeline
  • Submitting monthly project status reports to keep leadership in the loop
Qualifications

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • Demonstrated experience in technical editing and writing, preferably in a government, defense, or intelligence community environment
  • Expert command of AP Style and formal government correspondence standards
  • Strong research skills with the ability to verify facts, dates, statistics, and source accuracy
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

Desired:

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to handle repetitive, methodical work
  • Familiarity with DoD, DIA, CIO, and Information Assurance (IA) regulations, instructions, and policies (preferred)

At FWI, we place the highest importance on creating an exceptional employee experience. You'll have opportunities to achieve your career aspirations through internal promotions, professional development, and other recognition and rewards programs. Join our team and take advantage of the many benefits we offer, including:

  • Health Insurance
