Job Description:

Summary:

The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible and accountable for providing technical expertise and product knowledge support to the ITW Pro Brands R&D, Marketing, and Sales teams. The Technical Sales Engineer will help through understanding, training, and defining solutions for customer needs and problems. Supports the ITW Pro Brands distribution partner network through product knowledge, safety, and training. This role will collaborate effectively with other functional areas to support the division's strategy. This role is based out of Tucker, GA, and combines technical chemistry expertise with sales support and direct customer engagement responsibilities.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers focused on LPS, Dykem, Scrubs, Dymon, Spray Nine, Acculube, and Rustlick, but supporting all brands
  • Responsible for ensuring all technical needs of the sales team, end users, and distributors are met
  • Manage web and phone inquiries for technical product support
  • Develop and conduct sales team, distributor, and end-user product training
  • Provide CBI support and lend expertise within the assigned focus area
  • Assist R&D with lab projects when requested
  • Conduct product training to support new sales opportunities
  • Other sales-related items/priorities as required
  • Manage and implement specifications for customers, products, and processes within the assigned segment. 
  • Work through the field sales team, marketing, and R&D to obtain competitive product samples, information/literature on competitive products, and knowledge of competitive application/value propositions.
  • Assist the marketing team with the necessary support for new product launches, product promotions, video content, and related initiatives.
  • Execute any ad-hoc or newly introduced projects, plans, campaigns, or initiatives the commercial management team deems necessary to implement. 
  • Perform other assignments to meet company objectives, such as VOC interviews and technical presentations.
  • Field and vet calls and emails from customer leads (distributor and end user), and log information in our CRM (SFDC).
  • Provide and manage reports to demonstrate progress in goal achievement through the CRM system (SFDC).
  • Travel >30% for business needs.  International travel may be required.
  • This role will collaborate effectively with other functional areas to support the division's strategy.
  • Comply with timelines for all Workday activities, required training courses, and any additional requirements, such as Dayforce vacation tracking.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • BS in Chemistry, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related area 
  • Minimum 3+ years of technical sales or related customer-facing experience required. 
  • Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Strong user of Microsoft Office Excel (pivot tables, filters, and reference formulas as a minimum)
  • Medium negotiation skills
